It’s mid-week Wednesday, people! I heard a few “classic song covers a few weeks ago. I really like them! Not only are their voices lovely, but these amazing artists managed to make the music hip, catchy, and relevant (again) – transcending years and generation. I thought it’s something cool to start with. Enjoy!
1. The Honey Trees – Moon River
Reminds me of Holly Golightly’s elegant happy-go-lucky demeanour. Rather comforting, isn’t it?
2. Cristin Milioti- La Vie en Rose
Sitting on the veranda, living a life with a ukulele and rose-coloured glasses.
3. Plain White T’s – The Giving Tree
Looking back, wasn’t this such an emotionally deep book for children?
4. Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey’s Ad – The Parting Glass
I like Ed Sheeran’s version too but, for now, this one gets bonus points for the music video about friendship. You can read the background behind the melancholic revival of the Irish folksong here.
5. Ed Sheeran – Wayfaring Stranger
A traditional country song, performed by many artists such as Neko Case, Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez and Jack White. Johnny Cash arguably sang the best and most famous version. But, let’s listen to Ed’s rendition for tonight.
And, with that… Good night, my darlings.
Dream a little dream of me. (:
